ACTION: We are so close to Clawback Forgiveness

ACTION: Clawback forgiveness now!

Back in July, the House – which is led by Democrats – passed an appropriations bill (thats DC talk for a plan to spend money) that included funds for clawback forgiveness! Which means the government would sort of pay itself back, instead of our families or the state of New Jersey being on the hook for a broken disaster system.

Formally introduced by Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) in committee, this push was  championed by Congressman Kim to address ‘clawback’ issues in New Jersey’s RREM program and offer FEMA Community Disaster Loan (CDL) forgiveness.  Now – New Jersey Congressional reps are united in their fight against clawbacks.  Congressman Van Drew has co-sponsored legislation we work hard with Rep Kim on, and Congressman Smith has sponsored his own.  But.

Now, the Senate – which is led by Republicans – is looking to pass it’s own appropriations bill.  They’re definitely not just going to take what they got from the House and pass that.  So we need our Republican Congressman to push their Senate leadership to understand this is important to them, and all of New Jersey.

Make sense?  Not the how partisan DC is, but, what we’re trying to do to get through?
