What We Do
Stand up for the quality affordable care our families deserve. As part of a national push in 2017 we were able to prevent cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. New Jersey’s children, working families, seniors, people living with disabilities and people struggling with addiction depend on these programs. We continue to work to expand and protect them.
Get Sandy families home and work for disaster recovery programs that put families first. Since our founding in 2014, we won the creation of a Rental Assistance Program for Sandy families and fought to protect and expand that program. We’ve passed two state laws- one on transparency in Sandy recovery spending, and the other to provide mortgage relief and foreclosure prevention for the thousands of Sandy families still struggling to get home.
In October 2018 we won the creation of a $50 million dollar “cross the finish line fund” to assist Sandy families still not home. The Governor also announced a freeze on clawbacks and a process for families who have received clawbacks to apply for a hardship waiver. Stay tuned for more details on these two new programs.
Protect our shores from disaster. New Jersey needs a plan for sea level rise and future storms, right now we’re the only state bordering an ocean without one. Our communities need to begin mitigate and adapt. We also work with communities nationally to fight for disaster recovery systems that put families and communities first, not big insurance or politically connected contractors.

Note: Donations to the New Jersey Organizing Project are not tax deductible. We are a 501 C-4 non-profit organization and so we use funding to lobby for laws that our communities need or hold our elected officials accountable.
Thank you for all you do.
