SCI Report Bills: Our take from the front lines

Not 0ne More members have been invested in the NJ State Commission of Investigation’s report “The Dirty Business Behind Getting Clean” since its inception. It highlights some very important, very critical issues we’ve long been speaking out about (check out our Senior Policy Analyst Lisa C.’s breakdown on the report findings here), so we’re glad to see our state is taking these issues on by introducing a handful of bills addressing them.

However, things change at the speed of light in the recovery community – and some of these bills fix problems that are already outdated. Our members have been victims of the very systems these bills are looking to fix, and we are the experts on our own experiences. We are on the front lines of this crisis and want to ensure these bills do what they are intended to do: save lives. So we’ve done the work to figure out how to strengthen them and make them relevant for today.

Read or download our full report below for the recommendations we’re making as people with direct experience.
