June 20, 2019 - Passed and extended Sandy mortgage forbearance

We passed a bill to provide mortgage forbearance AND extend mortgage relief programs for Sandy homeowners. And then we passed it again for another 2 years of relief.

We fought for years to make this happen. It was a long journey that included: camping out across the street from the statehouse for 3 nights, getting a new bill reintroduced after the first was vetoed, and protesting at former Gov. Christie’s press conference to get him to pass it. But we did it! This law ensured that Sandy survivors who needed it would get a pause on their mortgage forbearance for two years, then another two years after we passed another bill to get it extended.
